References for Screenplay

There are 3 main references that stand out to me for inspiration of my screenplay: Call of Stralavia.

The first one I will be enlightening on, is Star Wars, Episode 1, the Phantom Menace.

Most of the inspiration from the Phantom Menace is from it’s politics, especially on Naboo with Queen Amidala. Also, Queen Amidala gets held hostage and has to flee from Naboo, so there’s that too. Big fan of this film.

The second reference I’ll put here, is Game of Thrones

I really like Game of Thrones, and I really love the costume design, which inspired me for some of my character’s costumes. Besides, I really love Daenerys Targaryen.

Finally for third, we have a reference from not a film, but a graphic novel series: Amulet, by Kazu Kibuishi

I’ve been reading Amulet since I was a first grader, so its definitely had its affect on me. One of the things I love most about it is the world building Kazu has done for the world of Alledia. I really wanted my story to have a feel like Amulet, minus the magic, elves, and robots. Good story, great art, 10/10 for me.

All in all, these were the biggest inspirations for Call of Stralavia.
